Careful work for people who read the small print.

The practice
Margin is a two-person practice in Leeds. We make identities, books and typefaces for organisations that would rather be read than looked at. Work arrives as a question and leaves as a system: a grid, a face, and a set of rules thin enough to hold in the head and strict enough to survive whoever inherits them.

What it is like to be on the other side of it
They sent a grid before they sent a picture, and it turned out to be the right way round. Everything we have made since has fitted it.
Margin gave us a typeface and eleven rules. Four years and three marketing managers later, nobody has managed to break them.
Enquiries
Tell us what the work is, and when it has to exist.
We answer within two working days, in prose, with a straight yes, no or not until autumn. New work usually starts with an hour on the phone and a one-page estimate.
