Yes. GSAP is free, including every plugin, and commercial use is covered at no charge. The licence is the Standard “No Charge” GSAP License. Its main restriction is using GSAP to build a no-code visual animation tool that competes with Webflow, or reverse engineering it to build one.

GSAP Vault is independent and not a party to that licence. This page summarises it; the official text at gsap.com/community/standard-license is the only authority and can change.

Is GSAP free for commercial use?

Yes. GSAP is free, including every plugin, and the Standard “No Charge” GSAP License covers commercial use at no charge. There is no licence key, seat count or fee.

Do I have to pay for SplitText, MorphSVG or ScrollTrigger?

No. Every plugin, including the ones that used to need a paid Club membership such as SplitText, MorphSVG and DrawSVG, has been free since GSAP 3.13. Prices quoted in older tutorials predate that change. GreenSock's pricing page states the same.

Can I use GSAP in client work?

Yes. Building GSAP into a site you make for a client and handing it over is commercial use, which the licence permits at no cost.

Can I use GSAP code written by an AI assistant?

Yes. GreenSock's licence FAQ says GSAP code generated with AI is not a Prohibited Use. The same licence applies to it as to code you write yourself.

What does the GSAP license not allow?

The main restriction is using GSAP to build a no-code visual animation tool that competes with Webflow, or reverse engineering it to build one. You also may not remove GSAP's proprietary notices or branding, and Webflow, which owns GSAP, can end the licence if its terms are broken. This is a summary, not the full list.

Is a GSAP Vault licence the same as the GSAP license?

No. GSAP's licence covers the library. Code written by GSAP Vault is covered by our own terms: the 28 free products are MIT licensed, and paid products carry a standard licence for one person on unlimited projects. You need both permissions, and buying from us grants only ours. The difference is set out in our terms and licence.
